BIOGRAPHY
The members of the Trio Catch met at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt. As well as performing classical music, the interpretation of contemporary music is at the heart of their collaboration. The trio won the Gotthard-Schierse Foundation concert award in Berlin in 2011, the Hermann and Milena Ebel prize in 2012 and the Berenberg Kulturpreis in 2014.
The Hamburg-based trio has worked with numerous composers, including Mark Andre, Georges Aperghis, Beat Furrer and Helmut Lachenmann. Trio Catch’s debut CD was released in the spring of 2014 on the col legno label, followed by a recording of Beat Furrer’s “AER” on KAIROS in the same year.
Trio Catch has played throughout Europe and at festivals such as Ultraschall in Berlin and the Wittener Tage. In the 2014/15 season they performed at the Tage für neue Musik in Zürich and in the SWR ars nova series and gave their debut at the Kölner Philharmonie.
Trio Catch is active in music education, running the children’s composition workshop “Louder” at Klangspuren Schwaz. As ensemble in residence at the Musikhochschule Hamburg they offer workshops for students of composition and have had a teaching post since 2014.
