BIOGRAPHY

In 2010 Quatuor Zaïde won first prize at the Charles Hennen International Competition in the Netherlands, the international press prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition and third prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition Canada. In 2011 they won first prize at the Beijing International Music Competition, and in 2012 first prize at the Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition Vienna.

Within its first three years, Quatuor Zaïde was invited to perform in such venues as Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Musikverein in Vienna, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées Paris, Beijing Performing Arts Center, at Bonn’s Beethovenfest, Aldeburgh Festival and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The quartet was also chosen as HSBC laureate ensemble at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. They have toured in China and throughout Europe.

In April 2014 the quartet released its first recording on the label “NoMad Music” featuring works by Janáček and Martinů. Quatuor Zaïde’s repertoire includes works by many contemporary composers such as Iannis Xenakis and Wolfgang Rihm as well as works by Jonathan Harvey, with whom they have had the good fortune to work.

The quartet has been mentored by Hatto Beyerle and by Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartett). Chamber music partners include Julian Steckel, Alexandre Tharaud & Eric Le Sage.
