BIOGRAPHY
Pablo Held grew up in a family of musicians in Hagen, Germany. From an early age he was introduced to music from different backgrounds. At the age of four he took drumming lessons and at ten he moved on to the piano. At eighteen he began his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne with John Taylor and Hubert Nuss.
In 2009 Pablo won the Westfalen Jazz Prize and in 2011 he was awarded the Jazz Prize of the Westdeutsche Rundfunk in the category “improvisation”. In 2012 he received the Horst & Gretl Will Jazz Scholarship of the City of Cologne.
Pablo is a sought after sideman in various projects in the European jazz scene but he has gained most attention with his trio. The Trio´s intentions flow together in one common stream, the course and density of which time and again are full of surprises. The Trio has led workshops at the Music Colleges of Weimar, Cologne, Würzburg and Mannheim and in 2012 toured in Kazakhstan, Italy, Spain, and South America. They have released four CDs with a fifth release in autumn 2013.
