BIOGRAPHY
János Balázs entered the School for Specially Talented Children at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest in 2002, where he studied under Gyöngyi Keveházi and István Gulyás.
At the age of 16 he won First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Pécs, Hungary. He has played together with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Szeged Symphonic Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic, and the Zagreb Radio Symphony Orchestra amongst others. He has toured several times to Japan and performs regularly in the USA.
In 2010 János made a unique concert tour in Hungary playing the complete works of Chopin for solo piano, including the concertos, for which he received an award from the Polish Government. He has recorded three CDs featuring the works of Liszt and a fourth featuring works by Chopin.
In August 2011 János won First Prize at the International Concerto Competition Aspen, USA, then Third Prize at the International Liszt Piano Competition in Budapest, Hungary. Also in 2011 he received the Junior Prima Prize, the most prestigious award in Hungary given every year to outstanding young artists, and in early 2012 he received the Klassz Talent Award from the Hungarian Ministry of National Resources, which also involved the release of his fifth CD.
