Biography
Greek clarinettist Dionysis Grammenos made his international breakthrough in 2008 when he won the Grand Prix d’Eurovision and the title of the “European Young Musician of the Year” – the first wind player ever to hold the title.
Dionysis has performed with such orchestras as the Vienna Symphony, Norwegian Radio Symphony, Vienna Radio Symphony, Festival Strings Lucerne and Vienna Chamber amongst others and has appeared at major venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus, Auditorium Musée du Louvre, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall and Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid. A keen chamber musician, he regularly collaborates with the Philharmonia Quartett Berlin.
At the age of 21 he made his conducting debut with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. Since then he has conducted such orchestras as the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Sinfonia Finlandia Jyvaskyla and St. Michel Strings, Finland.
He has received the International Leonardo da Vinci Award for excellence in the field of arts and sciences and is a gold medalist of the City of Athens for his services to music. In 2010 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Corfu Festival of Arts.
Dionysis Grammenos studied at the Liszt School of Music Weimar with Professor Martin Spangenberg.
