Biography

Prizewinner at the 60th ARD International Music Competition including the BR-Klassik Prize and at the Internationaler Instrumentalwettbewerb Markneukirchen, Cristina was appointed principal solo oboist of the Staatskapelle Berlin under the baton of Daniel Barenboim in 2013, at the age of just twenty-two.

In 2019, Cristina made her recital debut at Carnegie Hall in New York and Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin with the acclaimed pianist Michail Lifits. She has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica do Estado de São Paulo and the West-Eastern Divan, among others, and is frequently invited as principal in world leading orchestras like the Berlin Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Bayreuth Festival, playing under renowned conductors as Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta and Andris Nelsons.

Being an avid chamber musician, Cristina Gómez Godoy is widely sought after for her versatility and spirit of partnership. She frequently collaborates with artists including Daniel Barenboim, Guy Braunstein, Kian Soltani, Pablo Ferrández, Claire Huangci, Michail Lifits, Castalian Quartet or Calidore String Quartet at renowned festivals and halls such as Lucerne, Mozarteum, Musikverein, Festpiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, East Neuk Festival or the prestigious Ravinia Festival in the USA. 

She has recently recorded several oboe concertos with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and Daniel Barenboim, which are to be released. 

Born in Linares (Spain), she obtained her Bachelor and Master degree at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Rostock, with Gregor Witt. Since October 2015, she is also an adjunct professor at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK). 

Cristina Gómez Godoy lives in Berlin and plays an oboe by Ludwig Frank.
