Biography
British pianist Ashley Fripp has given solo, concerto and chamber music performances at many of the most prestigious venues throughout the UK, including the Barbican, Royal Festival, Queen Elizabeth, Birmingham Symphony and Wigmore Halls. International engagements have seen him perform extensively across Europe, Asia, North America and Australia, at such halls as the Carnegie Hall New York and Salle Cortot Paris.
He has won prizes at many national and international competitions, including the 8th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, Concours Européen de Piano, the Brant International Piano Competition, the Royal Over-Seas League Competition and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama´s Gold Medal. He has also performed in the Edinburgh and City of London Festivals, appeared on BBC television and radio, Eurovision TV and Euroclassical broadcasting networks and has collaborated with a variety of well-known conductors including Semyon Bychkov, Vasily Petrenko, James Judd and Peter Stark.
In 2011 Ashley Fripp graduated with the Premier Prix and Lord Mayor’s Prize from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he is now undertaking postgraduate studies with Ronan O’Hora. His CD of Chopin Piano Concertos Nos. 1 & 2 was recently released on Spektral Records. Ashley gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Kawai Pianos.
